Woo hoo!  Another great quote from Bishop Finn from Kansas City.  He’s the real stuff!!  Hey, Pope Benedict, give us more of these guys, please! : )

From a radio interview this morning:

“When I felt that our Lord called me to the priesthood, it wasn’t just to say Mass on Sundays, as spectacular and wonderful as that is.  The first ministry of the bishop is ministry of the Word, to preach the truth of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus Himself got crucified for that, and He told those who follow Him that the world is going to hate you as well, because the world doesn’t like anyone telling them ‘you should do this’ or ‘you shouldn’t do that,’ but this is the message of the gospel.  So believe me, I’m not in this as a lifelong vocation to sit on the sidelines and just fold my hands and pray.  I do a lot of that, and I have to do a lot of that, and I want everyone to do that.  But when it comes to issues of right and wrong of justice and life and death, I have to speak and I won’t be quiet.”

And this:

Interviewer: “Tomorrow, there are some Catholics listening to me right now, that are thinking strongly or are convinced that they will vote for Barack Obama.  What would you say to them?”

Bishop Finn: “I would say give consideration to your eternal salvation.  Because, to vote for a person who has expressed the fantatical determination to not only support abortion as it exists now but to remove all limitations on it through the Freedom of Choice Act and to extend it without any recourse, throwing out all the efforts of citizens over the last 35 years to place reasonable limits on abortion, that you, by voting for a person who has expressed his determiation to do this, to Planned Parenthood, to NARAL, you make yourself a participant in the act of abortion….”

Well, then.  What more is there to say?

Audio can be found here.  It’s a nice, concise interview- it’s worth a listen.
